Introduction programme for refugees

Who can use the services?

Refugees who settle in the City of Oslo by agreement with the Directorate for Diversity and Inclusion (IMDi) have a right and duty to participate in the introduction programme.

If you settle without an agreement with the municipality, you forfeit the right to participate in the introduction programme and do not receive introduction benefit.

What services do we offer?

On this programme you will learn about the Norwegian language and Norwegian society. You will also get to try out working life. The purpose of the introduction programme is to help you get a job or enrol in education, so that you can manage for yourself financially.

You will receive:

  • close follow-up
  • practical training in the Norwegian language and Norwegian society
  • help starting education or getting a job
  • financial support equivalent to two times the National Insurance Scheme's basic amount

The programme is full-time, like a regular working week, and lasts for up to two years. Read a brochure about the introduction programme, available in several languages and as an audio file (imdi.no)
