The Deputy Mayor
Deputy Mayor Abdullah Alsabeehg
Abdullah Alsabeehg (Labour Party) was elected as Deputy Mayor by the City Council on October 20, 2021.
The Deputy Mayor was born on September 6, 1986 in Bahrain. He grew up and lives in Søndre Nordstrand District. Alsabeehg is married and has a daughter.
The Deputy Mayor has extensive political experience from Oslo City Council. He has also been Political Adviser to the City Government and member of the District Council in Søndre Nordstrand District.
Alsabeehg has been a member of the City Council since 2011, first as Party Spokesman for the Labour Party in the Standing Committee on Transport and Environmental Affairs. After the election in 2015 Alsabeehg became Party Spokesman for the Labour Party in the Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs. In 2019 he was appointed as Political Adviser to the Vice Mayor for Culture and Sports. The following year he was appointed as Political Adviser to the Vice Mayor for Employment, Integration and Social Services. Alsabeehg was Party Spokesman for the Labour Party in the City Council’s Standing Committee on Urban Development from August 2022 to December 2023. He is currently Party Spokesman for the Labour Party in the Standing Committee on Transport and Environmental Affairs.
Alsabeehg has a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Oslo and a bachelor’s degree in Public Management from Oslo University College (now OsloMet). He has also taken several courses in Political Science, and he has studied International Law and Arabic at the University of Oslo.
The Deputy Mayor wishes to be a voice for diversity, community, and equal opportunities for all. He is particularly concerned with school policies, freedom of expression, democracy, community involvement, work against racism and for interfaith dialogue.
