When and why do you have to pay the fee?

Studded tyre fee in Oslo – from 1 November 2023 to the 7 April 2024. You do not need to pay a fee for the days a vehicle with studded tyres is left parked. You only need to pay for the given period. Studded tyres tear up the asphalt and generate airborne particles, which causes reduced air quality.

If you have a valid studded tyre tag from Stavanger, Bergen, Krisiansand or Trondheim, the tag is valid in Oslo as well.

Who are exempted from paying the fee?

  • Emergency vehicles
  • Handicapped drivers or passengers with a handicap parking permit
  • Vehicles fitted with equipment such as ploughs, salt or sand spreaders etc., on duty to maintain roads and streets
  • Vehicle registered as motorcycle
  • Vehicles registered as Diplomat Cars (CD cars)

How much will it cost to drive with studded tyres in Oslo?

You can choose between daily, monthly and seasonal stickers.

For ordinary vehicles, the prices are NOK 35, 450 and 1400 respectively. Prices are double for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes.

Penalty for driving without valid sticker is NOK 750.

How do you pay the fee?

There is no need for visible studded tyre sticker. The permission for using studded tires is registered electronically. The payment will be registered to your registration number in a database available to the enforcing authorities.

Monthly and seasonal stickers

May be purchased at the following places:

  • Through the app «Bil i Oslo»
  • Bymiljøetaten, Karvesvingen 3, Løren

The monthly sticker is valid for one calendar month. The seasonal sticker is valid 1.11.2020 – 11.04.2021.

May be purchased at the following places:

You may change the sticker only once through the app or on the web. For multiple changes please contact Bymiljøetaten or send e-mail: Only season stickers will be refunded. Stickers validated monthly or daily will not be refunded.
