The felling of the Oslo Christmas tree gift to London marks the beginning of the holiday season and symbolizes the longtime and strong friendship between the two cities.

"We are happy to share Ever Oslo with London. In a world marked by instability, with conflicts and crises in many countries, symbols of friendship and hope become especially important. The fact that we are gathered here to mark a 78-year-old tradition in this harmonious and scenic setting should not be taken for granted," says the Mayor of Oslo, Ms Lindboe.

“Ever Oslo” was chosen by both professionals and the public. The great Norwegian spruce is 20 metres tall and approximately 65-70 years old. It grew up in the beautiful and beloved forest north of Oslo.

Today, this area was the stage for the felling ceremony. The audience could enjoy Norwegian Christmas carols performed by students from Maridalen Elementary School and the international class at Manglerud Elementary School. Hot drinks made on an open fire to keep the audience warm were offered by the Agency for Urban Environment.

“Ever Oslo” has now started its journey to Trafalgar Square to spark up the Christmas spirit among the citizens of London. On the evening of December 4th, the lights will be switched on, and the public can admire the beauty of “Ever Oslo”.
