Traffic and parking regulations


Traffic signs always apply in the direction in which you are driving, from the signpost to the closest junction or the next signpost.

Parking
Parking permitted as indicated by the sign (to the left). Please remember the restrictions stipulated in the traffic regulations (se below).


 

Parking for caravans:
At Ekeberg and Bogstad camping sites and on roads without traffic signs.




Parking zone
Parking is only permitted in a zone in accordance with the symbols and working indicated on the respective signs. The signs apply until cancelled by the "End of Parking Zone" sign.

Both apply in the direction in witch you are driving, from
the signpost to the closest junction, or the next signpost.


Parking is regulated by the Traffic regulations § 17 and the Road traffic act §5. The Traffic Authority enforces the parking regulations in Oslo

Traffic regulations § 17

§ 17. 1) It is prohibited to stop

  1. On bends where visibility is inadequate, in tunnels, at the crest of a hill, or at any other place where visibility is reduced,
  2. In intersection or less than 5 meters from an intersection. This distance is to be measured from the point at which the edge of the pavement, the edge marking or the edge of the road begins to curve.
  3. Partly or wholly in pedestrian lanes, on pavements, footpaths, bicycle paths or bicycle lanes.
  4. On pedestrian or cycle crossings or less than 5 meters in front of such areas,
  5. On motorways or on acceleration or deacceleration lanes to or from motorways,
  6. Less than 5 meters from a level railway crossing,
  7. In bus, tram and taxi lanes, except for buses or trams at stops,
  8. At the widening of a road for bus, taxi or tram stop, or at a distance of less than 20 meters from a sign indicating such a stop. Exceptions are stops to pick up or discharge passengers, when this does not inconvenience buses, taxis or trams.

 

§ 17. 2) It is prohibited to park

  1. In front of vehicle entrances or exits,
  2. At passing points, on any part of road where the carriageway is widened,
  3. On pedestrian streets,
  4. In pedestrian precincts other than in specially marked places.

 

§ 17. 3)
Parking in the carriageway is prohibited on priority roads with a speed limit greater than 50 kph.

Each individual must pay attention to public traffic signposts, signals and markings and must comply with the restrictions indicated on these.
