Tourist buses – Information to drivers

Information about recommended driving patterns and parking lots for tourist buses in Oslo.

Where can tourist buses park?

There are several parking lots reserved for tourist buses in Oslo. To park in these locations the buses need a valid permit (license). There is no need to book the parking in advance.

Tourist buses can park in the following locations according to signage and time limit (always follow the signage in the area):

How much does it cost to park?

It is free to park in the designated parking lots for tourist buses with a permit (license). Parking must be according to signage and allowed parking time.

As long as you have an international tourist bus permit/licence, you may park in the areas reserved for tour busses. The permit must be issued in your home country.

Driving patterns for tourist buses

If you enter the city centre from the west of Oslo, disembarking and embarking should take place in ‘Haakon VII’s gate’. If you enter the city centre from the east of Oslo, disembarking and embarking should take place at the southernmost part of ‘Kongens gate’. When the passengers have left the bus, the buses must park in one of the designated parking areas as shown in the overview of “locations for tourist buses”. You can find the overview on the front page.

The parking conditions might change due to events, road work or other unexpected incidents. Therefore, always follow the signage and plan the route.

Ring 1 closed from 1st of July 2024

Due to the the rebuilding and upgrading of the Hammersborg and Vaterland tunnels, Ring 1 is closed for three years from 1st of July 2024. All requests in terms of the closure must be directed to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Norwegian: Statens vegvesen). More information about the closure of Ring 1.
