Financial assistance

Things you can get help with

You can get advice and guidance on the opportunities available to you in your situation. If you do not have, or cannot obtain, sufficient income to pay for food, rent or electricity, you can apply for financial assistance from the NAV office in your district.

How much support can you get?

The NAV office processes applications for social assistance. All applications must be processed individually. The City Council has adopted advisory norms that the NAV office can use as a starting point when assessing your case. For 2021, the advisory norms are:

  • Single person living alone: NOK 7,713 per month
  • Married couple/cohabitants: NOK 12,102 per month
  • Single parents: NOK 8,777 per month
  • Child supplement benefit 0–10 years: NOK 1,739 per month
  • Child supplement benefit 11–18 years: NOK 2,303 per month
  • Young people living at home 18–23 years: NOK 2,303 per month

Emergency social assistance

Social and outpatient emergency services process applications for emergency social assistance when the NAV office in the district is closed.
