Oslo Municipal council elections
The municipal council election and elections to the district councils in Oslo are held on 10 and 11 September 2023. You can vote in advance from 3 July.
Who can vote?
You can vote in the municipal council election and elections to the district councils in Oslo if:
You are a Norwegian citizen or a citizen of another Nordic country who
-
is entered in the National Population Register as resident of Oslo no later than June 30, 2023 and
-
is 18 years of age by the end of 2023
You are a foreign citizen of any other country who
-
is entered in the National Population Register as resident of Oslo no later than 30 June, 2023 and
-
was entered in the National Registry as a resident of Norway for at least three years before the election day and
- is 18 years of age by the end of 2023
Do you live abroad, on Svalbard or Jan Mayen?
Voters living or staying abroad, may vote in advance from 3 July to 1 September. Read more information about voting abroad.
You can vote at any of the 101 polling stations in Oslo on the following days:

Sunday 10 September: 13.00 – 18.00

Monday, 11 September: 09.00–21.00
Bring ID when you vote
You must show identification when you vote. As a minimum, the identification must contain your name, date of birth and a photo. Examples of valid identification include a passport, driving licence, bank card with your photo or National ID-card.
You do not need to bring your polling card (valgkort) with you when you vote. The polling card does not count as identification.
Voting at home
If you are ill or disabled, you can apply for voting from home.
You must apply by 6 September, 2023.
The application must include your name, phone number, address and date of birth.

Are you included on the electoral register?
The electoral register (manntall) is a list of everyone who has the right to vote in a municipality. To be able to vote, you must be included on the electoral register of a municipality.
You are automatically entered into the electoral register of the municipality you are registered in by 30 June in the year of the election.
If you move to another municipality after 30 June, you will have the right to vote in the municipality you have moved out of, even if you report your change of address.
