Web analysis

Google is the provider of web analysis tools and also the processer of the data gathered by the analysis tools. The City of Oslo uses Google Analytics to analyse user behaviour and improve content on the website. For geographic information purposes, Google Analytics will save parts of visitors’ IP-addresses. Datatilsynet considers an IP-address as private information. To strengthen privacy, The City of Oslo provides IP-masking in the tracking code. IP-masking involves the removal of the last eightbitgroup in the visitor’s IP-address before storing the address.

The website includes feedback features. Unintentionally, some users may share personal information through the feedback feature. We do our best in designing a user friendly website to prevent this from happening.

The data gathered by Google Analytics is stored at Google servers. Data will not be shared without the consent of the City of Oslo, with the exception of particular incidents where access to data may be exacted by law (police, court of law).
