Responsibility

The City of Oslo is responsible for the gathering and use of personal information at www.oslo.kommune.no. The information is gathered on servers operated by Sopra Steria. Only the City of Oslo and Sopra Steria have access to the information. The access to and treatment of this information is regulated by an agreement between the City of Oslo and Sopra Steria.

Web analysis

Google is the provider of web analysis tools and also the processer of the data gathered by the analysis tools. The City of Oslo uses Google Analytics to analyse user behaviour and improve content on the website. For geographic information purposes, Google Analytics will save parts of visitors’ IP-addresses. Datatilsynet considers an IP-address as private information. To strengthen privacy, The City of Oslo provides IP-masking in the tracking code. IP-masking involves the removal of the last eightbitgroup in the visitor’s IP-address before storing the address.

The website includes feedback features. Unintentionally, some users may share personal information through the feedback feature. We do our best in designing a user friendly website to prevent this from happening.

The data gathered by Google Analytics is stored at Google servers. Data will not be shared without the consent of the City of Oslo, with the exception of particular incidents where access to data may be exacted by law (police, court of law).

The cookie ctcdk maintains information about which unit and browser you are using, allowing the web site to present optimal content for that unit (computer, mobile phone, tablet, etc.). The cookie expires after one week.
• Text-to-speech
In using text-to-speech solutions on our web site, your unit will receive a cookie from leseweb.dk enabling the creation of an audio version of the text.
• Feedback
When you use our site’s feedback buttons, an information cookie will control the number of times the feedback may be submitted. The feedback information is stored in our database and may not be traced back to you.
The cookie is not removed automatically when you close the browser. The cookie can be deleted in the browser settings.
• Applications, guides and forms
When you use guides, forms and applications, cookies are created to enable the web site to remember information you have provided, as well as your browsing history.
The form for access request to City government departments’ documents generate cookies to remember your name and e-mail address from your previous requests. The cookies expire after one year.

• Favourites
Our service for applying to kindergarten enables you to choose favourites from a list of all kindergartens. Your selections will be saved in a cookie. The cookie is not removed automatically when you close the browser. The cookie can be deleted in the browser settings.​
• Passive collection​
While navigating on our web pages we can record user sessions using Hotjar. The aim is to improve your user experience of Oslo's web pages and web services. The data is stored in an anonymous format. You can opt out for screen recording by using the “do not trace” feature in your browser.

Search

Information about the search words and selections you use when searching www.oslo.kommune.no is stored in cookies. The information enables us to improve content and navigation for users of our site. User patterns and statistics from search may not be connected to other information about users, for instance IP-address. The search engine applied on www.oslo.kommune.no is Google Site Search.
