Guided tours of Oslo City Hall

The City Hall has several guided tours you can choose from. Most tours are available between September and June. From June to August there are free summer tours.

1. Summer tours of the City Hall

 

When

  • From 18 June to 30 June: 09:00-16:00 every day
  • From 1 July  to 11 august: 09:00-18:00 every day 

From 29 July the City Hall 1st floor will be partly closed due to election.

Where

Tours start from the Courtyard outside the City Hall. Please follow signs for meeting point for guided tours.

Duration

You can choose between two tours:

  1. A short guided visit taking you through the City Main Hall (15 minutes).
  2. A long guided tour taking you through all festivity rooms in the City Hall and the council chamber (45 minutes). This tour includes the Munch room on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Language

The tours are in multiple languages:

  • English, Norwegian and Chinese: several times a day
  • French, Spanish and German: several times a week, and may be possible on request.

You will find the time schedule for the tours in the Courtyard.

Price

Tours are for free.

Registration

No registration necessary. Meet up in the Courtyard.

Luggage, food and beverages

  • Larger luggage is not allowed, only small hand luggage.
  • All bags will be scanned in the security control.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in the City Hall.

2. The City Hall - classic tour

3. The City Hall - built on ideas and art   

The City Hall is rooted in international tradition and classic ideas. Focus on art and ideas. The supporting ideas behind the City Hall's architecture and decor.

6. Textiles in the City Hall

7. Parties in the city's grand ballroom

Gain insight into the ceremonies, banquets and receptions held in the city's grand ballroom. See the silver, crystal, porcelain and linen used for festive occasions in the City Hall.

8. Carillon tour with the carillonist

The tour goes up the eastern tower where you one can see and listen to Scandinavia's biggest carillon, a beautiful instrument weighing 20 tonnes.
