About Oslo City Hall

Oslo City Hall houses the city council, city administration, and art studios and galleries.

Its characteristic architecture, artworks and the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony makes it one of Oslo's most famous buildings. It was designed by Arnstein Arneberg and Magnus Poulsson. The roof of the eastern tower has a 49-bell carillon which plays every hour. It is situated in Pipervikain central downtown Oslo.

Visit the Oslo City Hall

Oslo City Hall is open to the public and host of over 300.000 national and international guests each year. Visitors can experience the art and history from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the summer (July 1 to August 31) the City Hall is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

During the summer the City Hall General Services offer free guided tours of the Oslo City Hall. The tours are held every day at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., from June 1 throughout August. No booking needed.

For those who want a guided tour we offer prebooked tours for groups and study visits.

Carillon concert is held in the east tower every Sunday during the summer. Those who wish to visit the carillon can meet up at the sign of summer guiding inside the City Hall at 2:45 p.m Sundays.
