19 June: Return to normal opening hours for bars and restaurants in Oslo

Press release: The City Council has decided that bars and restaurants in Oslo can return to normal working hours. This return to normal will start from and including Monday 22 June. At the same time, the central crisis team will maintain the highest alert level throughout the summer.

26th of May: Oslo’s pubs and bars can open from 1st of June

Oslo City Government has agreed today that also pubs and bars which only sell drinks can re-open from 1st of June. The City of Oslo is therefore following the anticipated change in regulations from the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services.

19 May: The City Government will prioritise 1.9 billion NOK for additional costs linked to the Corona outbreak

Press release: The City of Oslo’s financial position is very uncertain as a result of the Corona outbreak. This is why the City Government is prioritising 1.9 billion NOK in its revised budget for 2020, to cover additional costs and loss of revenue as a result of the pandemic. At the same time, the City Government is prioritising funds for activities and jobs to reduce unemployment in Oslo.

8 May: Oslo will continue to gradually re-open the schools this week

Press release: «We are glad that we can take a few more steps to re-open our society. The invasive measures that we have had until now have worked and we can now see that the spread of the virus in Oslo is very limited. This is mainly because we started the restrictive measures early on, and because people have followed the rules to prevent the virus spreading. 4 May: Oslo will follow the national guidelines for distancing

Press release: The City Government will change its guidelines for pubs and restaurants in line with changes in the national Covid-19 guidelines. This means there must be a distance of one meter between guests and staff in pubs and restaurants.

23 April: The reproduction rate for coronavirus infections in Oslo is below 1

The Norwegian Institute for Public Health (FHI) has informed us today that the reproduction rate for coronavirus is 0.88, as of 16 April. Governing Mayor Raymond Johansen commented, «The development of the epidemic is moving in the right direction for Oslo, and the measures that we have introduced seem to be giving results».

17 April: The kindergartens will open again

Press release: Oslo’s 730 kindergartens will be gradually re-opened during the period 20-27 April. All parents and guardians will receive information from their respective City District (bydel) and kindergarten, about which day the children will be welcomed back, and what changes will be needed due to the coronavirus.

8 April: The City of Oslo plans to re-open kindergartens and schools

Press release: The City of Oslo plans to start a gradual and controlled re-opening of kindergartens from 20 April, and schools from 27 April. The City of Oslo will also open a comprehensive service for City quarantine places for people who are infected and cannot stay at home.
