Information about measures taken against the spread of the Corona virus is changed on an ongoing basis. This means that the information in the press release may be outdated.
«From Tuesday 2nd June, the City of Oslo will allow more visitors to the nursing homes. This will give the residents a chance to have visits, outdoors and indoors, during the daytime, evenings and at weekends. The level of infection is lower in Oslo now, so we can finally allow more visits from close relative and friends to the residents at nursing homes. The restrictions were needed to prevent deaths, but this was also one of the hardest choices we have had to make. We will now do what we can to enable the residents to have visitors,» said Vice Mayor for Vice Mayor for Elderly Care, Robert Steen (Labour).
Now that the national guidelines are in place, we have produced new procedure for visiting Oslo’s nursing homes, in line with these. Visitors must comply with the general guidelines to prevent infection.
«We must prepare to re-open safely, with visitors from 2nd June. We needed the Whitsun weekend to get the nursing homes ready to have visitors. We have already facilitated visits outdoors, and now we are opening for visitors in compliance with the national guidelines. The City of Oslo has produced new procedures for visiting Oslo’s nursing homes. From Tuesday (2nd June), residents at the nursing homes will once more be able to have guests, both outdoors and indoors», said Vice Mayor Robert Steen.
In order to minimise the risk of infection, we have introduced the following procedures for visitors:
- Visiting hours are decided by each institution. It will be possible to visit during daytime, evenings and weekends.
- Visitors must agree with contact-staff at each institution beforehand, on the time and length of their visit.
There are many family members and friends who would like to meet their loved ones. It is important that families and friends understand that it can take some time before we are able to provide for visits, when everyone would like to visit their dear friend, partner or relative at the earliest opportunity.
