Campaign against social dumping

ByggeplassThe City of Oslo wants to ensure that all those who are working for the city through external contractors and suppliers have proper working conditions. We have therefore launched a campaign to encourage people to tip us about social dumping in workplaces where the city (local authority) is the client/principal.

We are interested, for example, in the working conditions of construction workers on sites where Oslo is the owner/builder (such as municipal day-care centres, schools, nursing homes, administration buildings or rental housing). Another example is working conditions for cleaning personnel employed by private contractors under contract to clean buildings owned by the City of Oslo. Other areas may also be involved.

All workers shall have proper working conditions, including appropriate pay, safety measures, lunch and rest rooms and, where relevant, adequate housing quarters at the workplace. This is laid down by Norwegian law and includes foreign nationals.

Call us on +47 800 82775 or +47 800 VARSL between 8 am and 3.30 pm if you know about cases where the rights of workers are violated by contractors and suppliers working for or delivering to the City of Oslo.

You can be anonymous, but you will have to be specific about:

  • what the case is about
  • where and when it has occurred and
  • who is involved

We need to know this because it may otherwise be hard to come by more information related to this case. We would then have to drop the investigation due to a lack of evidence.

Please have a look at Arbeidstilsynet’s web-site (The Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority) for more information about working conditions in Norway.
