Student in Oslo

The City of Oslo does not have any formal responsibility for higher education, but is concerned to be a good host to the city’s educational institutions and students. On these pages, those who are studying in Oslo or are interested in doing so can find the way to relevant information, across the whole scope of the city’s educational institutions, fields of study and social and cultural milieux.

Oslo offers higher education in practically all academic areas. What all the city’s higher education institutions have in common is that they are the country’s leading, or indeed only, place of study within their own special fields.

Oslo is currently home to 29 institutions of higher education (university or university colleges). These include easily the country’s largest university, in terms of both student numbers and scope of available study, as well as small institutions with specialised studies at university college level. There are currently almost 60,000 students studying in Oslo. Click on the key words on the left to find your way to information which we hope will be useful to you. Good luck with your studies and your life as a student in Oslo!

The City of Oslo co-operates with a number of the city's institutions of higher education within the project "Studenthovedstaden" (Student Capital").
