The districts of Oslo

The City of Oslo have organized parts of the local administration in 15 Districts. The Districts are run politically by local District Councils, while the District Administrations carry out the policy

 

The Districts are dealing with a limited number of matters, including:

  • care for the elderly
  • day care facilities
  • youth clubs
  • mental health care facilities 
  • health centres
  • services for the mentally disabled 
  • treatment and care for alcoholics and drug addicts
  • integrating refugees and immigrants

The decision-making power of the District Councils are delegated from the City Council, while their financial means are partly granted from the City Council, and partly comes from The Political and Administrative Systems of The City of Oslo fees on services.
