Immigrant information

The Unit for Diversity and integration (called EMI in the following text) gives information, advice and support to immigrant and minority ethnic organizations, networks, public services and other stakeholders in the diversity and integration field in Oslo.

EMI has a responsibility to deal with grant aid, to promote diversity and integration and to coordinate activities in OXLO – the city of Oslo’s campaign to promote the Capital as a city of inclusion and tolerance.

The Unit is under the political responsibility of the department for education and culture, and has a responsibility to cover and promote the issues of diversity and integration citywide.

EMI can be expected to assist you with regards to:

  • Information about, and handling of applications for grant aid, both grants financed over the Citys own budget and grants financed by the national government, aimed at supporting groups and organizations in the work of furthering diversity and integration.
  • Delivering and maintain updated registers of immigrant and minority ethnic organizations.
  • Conducting or give support to courses, seminars and conferences within the field of diversity and integration.
  • Connecting organizations, municipal services, public services generally, on topics of interest to the parties.
  • Giving information and advice on how to set up and run an organization.
  • Facilitating networks and meeting arenas. 
  • Support organizations in their efforts to promote and publicise their activities and ambitions. 
  • Promoting positive role models within the minority ethnic communities. 
  • Promoting “best practices” and generally publicise issues and activities within the field of diversity and integration.

You can have the following expectation of EMI:

  • You can contact us any weekday between 10 am and 3 pm (10.00 – 15.00) on the telephone, or meet with us in person at our visiting address in Markveien 57,entrance from Korsgate, or you can send us an e – mail any time at emi@bga.oslo.kommune.no
  • We will reply to your written request promptly, and at the latest within 3 weeks of receiving your letter.
  • We will, when appropriate, facilitate written information in several languages.

EMI has the following expectation of you:

That you deliver all necessary documents and relevant information within the set or agreed time, that we need to deal with your request or grant application.
